World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the world’s leading conservation organization, seeks a part-time graduate intern to work during the Fall 2016 semester for the Environment & Disaster Management program. The EDM program works to ensure that disaster recovery, reconstruction and risk reduction efforts include environmentally responsible considerations.
Internship Description:
WWF is currently seeking a graduate intern with interest in disaster management, climate change adaptation, water resource management, conservation, development, and social media to support several work streams including:
Research and development of training and communications materials for a USAID funded project Natural and Nature-based Flood Management Methods: A Green Guide
Website development, communications, and promotion for the and the Guidelines and Green Recovery and Reconstruction Toolkit (GRRT) website and resource library; using social media and website platforms;
Research and analysis of disaster related events and examples of climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction and resilience policies and practices
The intern will assist the technical team to:
Research and collect relevant literature, data, learning and practices for integration in to program planning and current multiple work streams;
Maintain and update web based knowledge management and communication platform and assist with program communications;
Assist with requests for assistance and development of learning sessions with internal/external collaborators;
Use and manage social media platforms for Guidelines, training materials and research.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience: A Bachelor’s degree is required, Master’s Degree preferable, with related background experience in any combination of environmental, conservation sciences, urban planning, climate change, disaster/emergency management and/or development. Work in the non-profit sector is desirable.
Skills and Abilities:
Excellent research and written/oral communications skills.
Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Office, Word Press or other website platforms.
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
Social media savvy; ability to develop social media presence.
Strong organizational skills.
Working knowledge of conservation, climate change adaptation, disaster management and risk reduction, and/or environmental policy is required.
A high-level of interpersonal communication skills is required.
The ability to work independently and effectively prioritize and work accurately under time constraints.
